A liniment such as Tiger Balm (or any camphor-based over-the-counter product) can make this massage more soothing. This sequence is designed for the wrist, but you can easily transfer it to the ankle.

1 If you are using a liniment, begin by rubbing a generous amount into both the front and back of your wrist. If not, go straight to step 2.

2 Carefully massage the entire wrist joint. Start on the inside of your wrist and make small circles with your thumb all along the wrist crease. Continue for at least one minute. Next, make small circles in the area around the wrist crease. Continue for at least one minute.

3 Turn your hand over, hold the little-finger side of your hand with your fingers, and continue to use small circles with your thumb to massage the other side of your wrist. Continue for at least one minute.
